    We base our gas price forecasts on the second lowest prices of regular unleaded gasoline in Chicago. (And our Nationwide Gas Prediction is based on this forecast, consolidated with eleven others across the U.S.) The prices reported below are the lowest and highest for the Chicago metropolitan area, and not the prices we are actually using in our predictions.

Our current algorithm is optimized and tested to predict direction of movement of gas prices nationwide. We are working on adjusting it to predict precise ranges of prices for particular areas.
