  • Gas Coupons - Why You Should Use Them

    By Tom Tessin

Many people are not taking vacations this year because of the economy and the high cost of gasoline. It does not seem feasible to have to pay out more for the gas in your vehicle than you would for say your motel room or food to go on vacation. That is why many resorts are offering vacationers the opportunity to take vacation by giving them gas coupons.

This may seem like an awkward way to get people to take vacation but the industry is losing money since people are no longer taking that much needed vacation. Many times people take short vacations to local spots that are in the same state that they dwell but because of the high cost of gasoline even these types of vacations are coming to a slow down and in some cases a complete stand still.

This is not good for the economy and most certainly it is not what we want as Americans. Many Americans are use to traveling in the summer months going to "Theme Parks" and other such places of entertainment with the whole family. This is a vital means of relaxation and sharing family time that we as Americans value. It has become so expensive that some "Theme Parks" are considering closing early or not opening at all for the summer. The motel and resort areas are suffering from the fact that not only are families not going on vacation using their facility that couples are restraining from taking a trip. This cuts deeply into the economy of the industry. Many times this also cuts into the economy of the town or city that these vacation spots are located. The question was what to do to get people to once again take the vacation trip that they would normally go on if the price of gasoline had not risen to such outrageous prices. The answer found by many of these places is to offer coupons for fuel. Yes, coupons that the consumer can use to pay for the fuel to get him to the vacation spot that he would normally go.

The answer to many economists are that we shall survive and good old American knows how still prevails when it comes to marketing and sales. Some of the famous resort areas offer a free tank of gas if the consumer will spend a couple of nights while others offer a discount on the cost of the room to help offset the price of gas. This is all good marketing techniques and very helpful to the consumer but just make sure that the resort has not raised the cost of the room in order to make you think that you are getting a great savings on your gasoline. It is a harsh world since the economy has gone so badly but as always even in getting discount gasoline coupons or offers "let the buyer beware."
