  • GasPredictor.com's "Unofficial" Predictions

How much will regular unleaded gas cost tomorrow at the second cheapest gas stations in these cities?

DISCLAIMER! The predictions listed on this page are not our "official" predictions. We do not publicly keep track of the success or failure of our predictions for these cities, and we do not include these cities in our claim of over 99% successful predictions. These predictions don't count! We are posting them for your information only.

The cities listed here are not the ones for which we publish daily "Gas Predictor" newsletters, and they are not among the 12 key cities we use in formulating our national gas price predictions for the United States as a whole. These are just some of the other cities we are monitoring, and putting through an unrefined version of our prediction algorithm. As customer demand indicates, and as our time allows, we may pick certain cities from this list to be included in future local editions of the "Gas Predictor." (Hint: The fact that a city is listed here is a pretty good clue that we are not planning a local edition for this city for the very near future.)

In some cases, cities are included on this list precisely because we have not had much success refining our algorithm for that locality. So, take these predictions with an especially large grain of salt. We admit that our algorithm performs especially poorly for all cities in Ohio, and for San Francisco. Don't quite know why. Sorry.

We update this page after we send out our "Gas Predictor" newsletters each day, and that depends on what time we get the necessary market data. Usually, you'll see new predictions here between 5:30 and 7:30 PM Eastern every business day.

Note: "Correct Yesterday" means that our recommendation to buy or not to buy would have resulted in you saving money, or at least not losing money. It does not necessarily indicate that the second-lowest retail price was actually within our predicted range, only that it moved in the direction we predicted. More precisely, it means that gas prices did not move in the direction opposite of what we predicted.

Our prediction algorithm is designed to predict the change in retail price of regular unleaded gas at the second cheapest gas stations. Each day, based on that prediction, we recommend whether to buy gas today, or whether you would come out ahead by waiting until tomorrow. We check our prediction against the most recent available prices at the second cheapest gas stations in our test areas. If you would have saved money, or not lost money, by following our recommendation, we call that a successful prediction.
